Description

This set of pocket chart rhymes and activities for January will have your children excited about circle time or morning meeting. This winter children learn about animals in the winter, hibernation, getting dressed to go outside, winter activities graphing, and even a poem for Martin Luther King, Jr. day.

With a new rhyme AND learning activity EVERY WEEK in January, you will be ready for circle time or morning meeting in no time. Everything but the pocket chart is included! No sentence strips to write, wasted effort or extra materials needed.

Did you know you don’t even need to use a pocket chart for most of the activities? We often use them as magnet board activities and center activities at the tables.

WEEK 1

Song/Rhyme: Animals in Winter –This rhyme introduces what some animals (bear, fox, geese) do in the winter. This contains fairly simple text, rhyming and pictures for each phrase.

•Choose to picture cards and decide if they make the same beginning sound

•Print two copies of the snowman cards to make a winter “go fish” or memory type game

WEEK 3

Song/Rhyme: “I Have a Dream”– Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday with this rhyme. Repetitive text makes it easy for children to learn to read along.

Activity: Dressing for Winter If you live where winter is cold, you know that getting a group of youngsters outside is quite the undertaking. These sequencing cards will help children determine which order they should put their outside clothing on.
