Description
This is an extended activity I do when teaching about the Iroquois. This particular file is the note-taker in which students are asked to read the excerpt for each document for each topic, and they have to summarize what the Iroquois constitution sets for that topic, what the U.S. Constitution sets for that topic, whats the specific idea the U.S. borrowed from the Iroquois and what its a good element to have in a government.
The reading that goes along with it is based on a few categories of information like introduction to the document, symbol, leader's powers, speaker, qualifications of representatives, impeachment, legislative branch, judicial branch and amendments. I provide the excerpt from both the Iroquois constitution and the U.S. Constitution for each topic.
The reading is sold separately and its called Comparing Iroquois Constitution vs. U.S. Constitution primary document reading
Directions for the assignment are included in my comprehensive chapter powerpoint sold separately called: World History Chapter 16 People and Empires in the Americas Powerpoint
