Description

Take a culinary peek into the Irish culture with this hands on activity. Learn about popular foods in Ireland and try your hand at baking Irish Scones using an innovative Read N Bake recipe that will allow beginning and proficient readers a chance to practice their reading skills in a functional way!

Use the reading prep instructions and vocabulary cards to introduce unfamiliar words and practice decoding sound patterns for words found in the recipe. This scaffolding will help your beginning readers feel success as they read and bake a delicious treat! Color coded measurements will also make it easier for independent baking when used at home.

The Read N Bake recipe is included as a google slide presentation for use as a whole group and also in an easy-to read PDF for individual use in school or in a homeschool classroom.

Read N Bake recipes are great to print, laminate or use a sheet protector to collect in a folder or binder. Your beginning reader(s) will be able to use it again and again to practice their reading while baking something tasty!
