Description

This project gives students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of the solar system, systems of the human body, and adaptations. Students will be given the opportunity to research a planet (it's atmosphere, weather, composition, etc.), then invent an alien that would be able to survive on the planet. While inventing their alien, students need to create systems of the alien's body that will allow it to survive on the assigned planet. Students also need to ensure that the alien's body is adapted to it's planet/habitat. Students create and draw internal structures that allow for the alien's survival, as well as external structures. This project encourages students to think critically, develop research skills, express themselves artistically, and use their imaginations. It is also extraordinarily motivating! After assigning this project, I have to beg my students to go to recess!!
