Description
“Solving the Recorder Mystery” is a video recorder method that breaks down learning how to play the recorder into tiny, easy-to-comprehend pieces. The (slightly silly) mystery theme with sound effects keeps my students' attention, makes them laugh, and keeps them practicing when they go home! I give my eager students the YouTube links for practice on their free time and use the PowerPoint/PDF files in THIS resource for teaching in class. I suggest doing the same in your class! In these missions, I teach students how to create the correct sound on the recorder, how to identify the parts of the recorder, how to read and play the pitches BAGE, low and high C and D, and how to work their way down to low C on the recorder.
Please note: In episode 9, it says that there will be a next episode to learn how to play F and F#. However, due to health reasons, I never made the final episode, #10. I have found that by the time students need to learn F and F#, they don't need a video as much as just a quick explanation with the fingering chart. This bundle is complete with the 9 episodes, ending with "Decoding Low C and High C."
In this resource, you receive:
1. The ad-free, promo-free version of all the YouTube videos. Once you download it, you don't have to worry about losing your internet connection mid-video during class! This video is in mp4 format. Please make sure you have a program that will play this before purchasing. Videos range from 3 minutes to 10 minutes.
2. the PowerPoint and PDF of the graphics used in the videos - GREAT FOR USING IN CLASS!
3. One-page worksheets to assess student understanding after each lesson. This worksheet makes this resource great for a SUB. Answer sheets included. Worksheets provided in PDF.
4. Mission 3, 4 and 5 also have a 1-minute warm-up video for reviewing those lessons. These are ear-training warm-ups with no written music. Use them at the end of those missions and at the beginning of class to review before beginning the next mission.
I hope you and your students love this as much as we do!
:) Meg
