What educators are saying

This is an incredible resource for explaining the advertising process to my students. It made it very clear for them and they love it.

Description

Lesson plan and Prezi introduces key concepts in public relations including:

-- Defining public relations and distinguishing it from marketing, advertising and propaganda

-- A brief history of public relations (optional)

-- Public relations ethics

-- The four-step process of PR: Research, planning, communication and evaluation

The 19-page lesson plan is detailed and includes multiple discussion questions and activities for students. It is color-coded to help show the distribution of student participation activities. Separate sections at the end include suggested written assignments and a group assignment.

The Prezi is not required to use with the lesson plan. However, it includes many illustrative visual examples and videoclips. Instructions are given in the lesson plan for accessing a copy of the Prezi that you can customize and organize how you wish.

The material is estimated at three hours but depending on how you use the optional material, it could be developed as a weeklong unit in a business, journalism or writing class. The separate sections and optional materials are designed to make this lesson plan flexible -- use as little or as much as you wish in whatever order you wish.
