Description
This unit is part of our Honors Biology Full Year Curriculum.
The Intro to the Study of Life Complete Unit was designed as an introductory survey of the 6 Unifying Themes of Biology. This unit is intended to give students a basic understanding of major themes they will encounter throughout their study of biology.
Each 45-minute lesson day begins with bell work that functions as a quiz over the previous day’s concepts. After completing guided notes during the PowerPoint, student understanding is immediately reinforced with targeted activities (full labs, micro-labs, in-class drawings, group activities, etc.). To ensure individual success, each day ends with an exit survey to enable teachers to track each student’s progress.
You will receive 5 days worth of material in a highly organized format:
- Day 1: Unifying Themes of Biology, part 1
(Cellular Structure and Function; Stability and Homeostasis; Reproduction and Inheritance) - Day 2: Unifying Themes of Biology, part 2
(Evolution; Interdependence of Organisms) - Day 3: Unifying Themes of Biology, part 3
(Matter, Energy, and Organization) - Day 4: Unit Review
- Day 5: Unit Test
All documents are fully editable .doc or .ppt files, so feel free to make adjustments that suit your specific needs.
However, please do not share or sell any part of this unit in any capacity - even if you have made significant changes. Any use other than personal use is expressly forbidden.
