What educators are saying

I used this for my advanced ELs at the end of a career unit. We had researched careers and salaries, and then they got to design their own apartment based on the rent they could afford with their chosen career. They loved the slides and all the options for rooms/furniture.
This is a great resource! My students liked being able to choose their own design choices in the spaces. It also helped me determine if they were understanding what we were talking about in our notes.

Description

Are you looking for a fun and interactive way for your students to practice using the Elements and Principles of Design? The Virtual Room Project provides students with an opportunity to showcase their personal design style while incorporating line, shape, form, texture, color, space, contrast, emphasis, balance, and unity!

Students can use the resource document provided or the internet to find items to place in their virtual room. It is as easy as copy and paste! Then, they can arrange items to create two different versions of the same space: one symmetrically balanced and one asymmetrically balanced. Put in a twist and ask students to design rooms for one another!

This project takes approximately 2 class periods.
