Interdental / Frontal Lisp Book and Program for Speech Therapy Sam the Snake
- PDF
What educators are saying
Description
Do you have students with frontal / interdental lisps ? Help students realize that, when their speech has misarticulations, it affects the way others understand them. This story also helps to develop students’ self-awareness of their speech errors and helps them make connections about what they are doing with their tongue. Also, Sam has become a character that they can relate to!
The story also serves to:
- reinforce the importance of practicing new speech skills at home (like Sam did)
- reassure students that speech therapy can help them. OH, and it’s really fun! If a hissing, forked tongue snake like Sam can correct his lisp, anyone can!
- provide a great deal of practice AND activities for remediating a frontal lisp
What’s In this Download? (Psst, be sure to download the preview for a closer look!!)
- all the pages needed to create the Sam the Snake printable book. Each full page has 2 pages of the little book. Cut out the pages of Sam the Snake along the black lines. Stack them according to page number. Hole punch each page at the top left and bottom left area; use binder rings in the punched holes to create a “bound” book. Or get it spiral-bound!
- 4 dot art pages for /s/ and /z/ for practice in isolation (2 for /s/ and 2 for /z/)
- 2 pages that facilitate a discussion about feelings pertaining to /s/ and /z/
- the aforementioned pages also explore the students' phonemic awareness of the sounds and help to make students aware of /s/ and /z/ words in daily conversation. If you like these pages, you can find a packet with every sound HERE.
- 2 pages for both /s/ and /z/ providing instructions and visuals for production of these target sounds - One page explains tongue tip-up placement and one explains tongue tip-down placement (depending on what works best for each student). If you want your student to have a version of this visual to carry around, put on their desk, etc., I recommend printing it at 50% or smaller.
