What educators are saying

I used this as a partner/small group activity with my special education 10th graders for US history. Many of them thought it was easy to use and enjoyed it, but there were some who didn't care for it. I, on the other hand, thought it was a genius assignment!
My students enjoyed this resource and I appreciated a new way to integrate map skills into my history curriculum.

Description

This product is a Google form and doc linked to an interactive map. This interactive map shows the southern United States in 1831, when Native American groups began the series of forced migrations known as the Trail of Tears. It shows the territories of each group before and after the migrations and the route each group took.

Students will analyze the interactive map. Students will learn about the lands of each group and the routes they took during their removal. Then, students will answer the 9 reading comprehension questions on the form. Finally, students will answer the 5 short answer questions on the doc. This activity has worked very well in pairs using two devices. This product is an excellent enrichment activity.

Students will learn the following:

  • Lands before the Trail of Tears
  • Choctaw
  • Chickasaw
  • Creek
  • Cherokee
  • Seminole
  • Lands after the Trail of Tears
  • Numbers affected by Indian Removal Act

This product is editable to suit your needs. Questions and option orders are shuffled.
