This is an interactive close reading flipchart about rainbows. The text is informational and has academic vocabulary along with facts about rainbows. This flipchart includes several learning activities such as:

The main text (one page) about rainbows. If you click on the sticky note in the top right corner of the page (and any other page that you see a sticky note) there will be directions on what to do. When you are clarifying unknown words with your sentence you can click around the words to reveal a hidden circle (circling unknown words is a close reading strategy used in the Common Core State Standards), and then you can click on the word itself and it will take you to a page that defines the word. Some of the definitions have visual aids and/or an interactive activity to deepen students' understanding.

There is a page about how to make a rainbow with hidden objects that are revealed through clicking. Students learn that sunlight + raindrops = a rainbow.

There is also a page that goes over how many colors are in a rainbow and what those colors are. The rainbow is colored in by the user.

And there are 5 text dependent questions in order to teach students to go back to the text and search for an answer (another close reading strategy used in the CCSS). When you go back to the text and find the answer you can click on the answer and hidden highlighter marks will be revealed.
