Insight Into Jazz Dance History Culture Videos for High & Middle School Dance

This activity was designed for a high school Dance class but can be used at the middle school level as well.

This is a Jazz Dance history activity centered around watching four Jazz videos that are very different from each other.

Contents include:

• Jazz Dance history facts
• Jazz Dance legend history facts
• 4 videos of Jazz Dance that exhibit different substyles of Jazz Dance
• Questions about the individual videos, connections between the videos, and previous knowledge connection questions.

This can be done in person with your students, as a sub plan, or independent assignment. I assigned this to all my students via Google Classroom- they each received an individual copy and typed directly on the document. If you are conducting this activity in-person without individual student Chromebooks, you can project onto the screen and have the students answer the questions in a journal.
