Ants are amazing engineers that dig tunnels to create an entire community for their colony. How can you create an ant hill to show how they change the environment to meet their needs?

- paper or plastic straws
- small balls or marbles
- cardboard
2. Insect Model Project | Parts of an Insect STEM
Insect Model Project where students design an insect out of Makerspace materials. Print-and-go and digital resources to guide creation and exploration while using the Engineering Design Process.
Additional Materials Needed:
- thin cardboard
- pipe cleaners
- masking tape
- any other Makerspace items. It's recommended to start collecting materials and organizing a few weeks before this lesson if you are in need of materials.
