Great resource for Oral Communication classes. I used this resource in my Oral Communications class. It provided me with what I need to plan instruction. I will continue to use this in the future.

Description

This resource contains full unit materials for a unit of informative speeches, including materials for teaching research and public speaking. This research-driven project allows students to choose any person, event, sport, or illness to research and present in a polished and formal speech. The rubric assesses content, organization, research, and public speaking skills. Detailed resources included assisting students as they prepare for public speaking and research ethics. Two different kinds of speech assignments are included in this resource, of a formal speech and a formal presentation with a coordinating PowerPoint.

The unit includes:

  • 3 powerpoints explaining topics, integrating research, and public speaking
  • a rubric for the final speech
  • peer and self-reviewing rubric and activity
  • outline template & sample outline
  • sample PowerPoint and works cited
  • detailed assignment handouts
  • research source sheets for MLA assistance and research credibility

Use both of these assignments for differentiation or pick and choose among them!

Each file in this resource is available in both PDF and Microsoft Office (Word and PowerPoint) in case you need to do any customization.
