Description

This public speaking activity set includes materials for teaching informative speeches. It contains information to help students research a speech, cite sources, and organize a speech.

Included in this informative speech activity:

✓ Student instructions for an informative speech (editable).
✓ A sample outline of a biographical speech AND a sample outline of another informative speech. (Both are editable.)
✓ A presentation to walk students through the process.
✓ Four worksheets: citing sources, researching a topic, organizing a speech.
✓ An outline rubric.
✓ A speech rubric.
✓ Graphic organizers to get students started.

All sample speeches have an attention gainer, introduction, thesis statement, at least two main points, and a conclusion. They are sentence outlines, not topic outlines.

These speech assignments will walk students through a standard informative speech. You may choose which speech assignment to complete with a class—a standard speech where students choose the organizational pattern, or a chronological pattern.

This item will get you through two speeches, or about two weeks of class time (dependent on the size of the class).
