What educators are saying

Great resource! Clear and concise directions. Students were engaged and I got the feedback I needed to reassess. Thank you!
This was very engaging and covered the standards I was needing them to practice before our state testing.

Description

WritingTest Prep Made Fun! This Boot Camp Styled Writing Test Prep is all that you need to get your students ready for Informational Writing. This file is designed to give you a fun and engaging review as you are getting ready for your State Writing Test. This can be used with any writing test, where Informative writing is used.

Included is everything you will need to run 6 different stations:

6 Station Signs with Instructions in Color and B/W version

5 Spinners for Text Structure

5 Writing Prompts on cards to correlate with specific Text Structures

Brag Tags for each Station

"STOP and Give Me..." cards for Brain Breaks during Boot Camp

The focus of each station will be writing a specific part of a paper. The graphic organizers are included for the students already COMPLETE.

I wanted the kids to focus on writing and not necessarily finding the ideas. I wanted them to have all the information they needed in front of them without them spending all of the time before reading. I ABSOLUTELY understand the importance of the students being able to brainstorm and find the information for them to write, but this activity is all about WRITING!

Included are stations that will focus on:

Introduction

Conclusion

Editing and Revising

Body Paragraph Writing (3 Stations)

At the end of this activity the students will NOT have a complete paper. They will have 5 different individual paragraphs, and these paragraphs WILL NOT necessarily correlate with each other. The topic of each paragraph will be the same, but they may each be different structures.

The students will use a spinner at some of the stations, they will be spinning to determine the Text Structure they will be writing.

Therefore, their stations may be as follows:

Introduction: Introduction to a Problem/Solution paper

Body Paragraph: Cause and Effect Body Paragraph

Body Paragraph: Compare and Contrast Body Paragraph

Body Paragraph: Description Body Paragraph

Conclusion: Closing to a Sequence paper

You could have the students complete ONE station per day and make it last over 6 days, or have them do a couple per day to get it completed quicker.

When they complete a station, there is a coordinating BRAG TAG for them!

At anytime during the stations, you can project the pages where the students will need to STOP and do a physical exercise.
