Includes a webquest that details the history of child labor in the United Stated with a focus on the Industrial Revolution as well as three source analysis packs that detail the conditions and impacts of child labor. This bundle will help your students analyze poems, stories and primary sources in a historical context and will develop their understanding of child labor. Resource #1: Industrial Revolution and Child Labor Source Analysis

This 14 page package includes 5 engaging and informative yet short primary sources about child labor. The sources truly capture the realities of the working and living conditions for people during the Industrial Revolution.

The packages also includes a range of activities related to the primary sources. Included the teacher will find a set of 16 analysis questions that requires students to think critically in order to develop their ideas in relation to child labor. The questions come with a detailed teacher key.

The package also includes a writing assignment that requires students to develop a perspective and utilize historical evidence related to the events lesson. The assignment involves writing a letter from the perspective of an organization trying to stop child labor. A teacher key and marking rubric are included in the package for the assignment.

Resource #2: Industrial Revolution Child Labor in America - Webquest with Key

This 8 page document contains a webquest and teachers key related to the overview of child labor in America with a focus on the Industrial Revolution and later periods. It contains 15 questions from the history.com website.

Your students will learn about the history of child labor in America from early colonial American, to the Industrial Revolution and the changing role of child labor during the Great Depression. The webquest even deals with modern issues of child labor that are still present in America. A great assignment for linking historical issues with modern issues.

Resource #3: Industrial Revolution Child Labor Poem Analysis

This 5 page document contains a short but engaging poem from the time period and deals with the issue of child labor. The poem is a great tool for addressing the issue of child labor during the Industrial Revolution and describes the attitudes and impacts of child labor at the time.

Included in the resource is a set of analysis questions which will help the students to analyze the message of the poem and the attitudes it contains. Some of the questions will make for great, class-wide discussions.The questions come with a detailed teachers key for ease of assessment.

Resource #4: Industrial Revolution Child Labor Photo Analysis

This 16 page resource is a photo analysis that uses a "centers" activity format with seven different photos related to child labor during the Industrial Revolution. This excellent resource includes seven different and powerful photos that can be used in the seven different centers for use in the classroom.

The students rotate through each of the seven centers in order to view a different image and use an included photo analysis chart in order to record their observations and interpretations of each image. The included photo analysis chart requires students to consider the jobs, age and dangers that each of the photos display. This is a great activity for building and improving student photo analysis skills and collaboration skills as they rotate and work with other students.
