What educators are saying

Great resource. The kids were very engaged -- everyone loves improv! It's the perfect activity to introduce drama to younger grades.

Description

REVISED AND UPDATED JULY 2019! This is a complete, three-week unit on Improv for secondary drama, acting, or theatre classes that is based on my twelve years of teaching high school acting classes. It contains seventeen improv games and scene structures that you can use individually as warm ups or skill building exercises or that can be packaged together and taught as a unit. The full unit culminates in small group performances where students choose three short improv scenes to perform from a menu: an appetizer (a warm up game), an entree (a scene structure), and a dessert (an audience participation game). The many games and scene structures in this unit can be easily adapted for use in any level of drama, acting, or theatre class.

The following games and scene structures are included in this packet along with full explanations and examples of each: Hitchhiker, What Are You Doing?, Props, Oracle, Vacation Slideshow, Party Guest, Bus Stop, Freeze, Onion, Short Harold, Entrances & Exits, Fairy Tale Theatre, Story Story Die, Sentences, Talk Show, Sound Effects, and Moving People.
