Impact of the Crusades DBQ
- Word Document File
Description
The lesson begins with a map analysis (students use a map to predict what they think might be an impact of the crusades) and a general introduction into some of the big consequences of the conflict.
Next, students read a variety of documents to look at the positive and negative effects of the crusades on different nations (including primary and secondary sources and another map of trade routes/raw materials). There are three extension documents (two primary sources and an image) for students that need an additional challenge.
Students fill in a graphic organizer to synthesize both the positive and negative points of view. Finally, students select one argument to write a persuasive paragraph. There are sentence starters for the introductory sentence and first piece of evidence to help students get started.
