Many children with autism are struggling with imitation skills. Imitation is the key to learning. Directly teaching imitation skills will help students. Each page can be used as a stand alone activity or can be combined to make a longer lesson. See the preview for examples. These are perfect for homework or classwork when working on building social interaction.
Problems with imitation and joint attention (attending to the same thing at the same time) are common in individuals with autism. These imitation skills printables will work well for any students whose special needs include developmental delays or it may work for younger students in primary grades learning to develop imitation skills. The printables can supplement a curriculum or a they can be used daily as a discussion starter for developing imitation skills. This packet includes imitation skills related worksheets that require variations in response styles for many answers. (Ex. matching, cutting, circling, and pasting.)
