What educators are saying

This was a really fun resource to introduce our idioms unit to get students excited about what we would be learning next.
This was a great activity to extend our lessons regarding figurative language and tie in St. Patrick's Day at the same time. The kids enjoyed having a fun independent activity to keep them motivated!

Description

Here's a hands-on, creative way to practice defining idioms, and it's just in time for Saint Patrick's Day! This is an engaging activity where your students complete a worksheet where they must read several sentences and use context clues to determine the meaning of the idiom. The finished products make a unique bulletin board or fun school hallway display! It can also be used as a novel entry in an interactive notebook! More than 20 idioms are included in this project!

Student-friendly directions with photos are included so that you can place the directions under your document camera, and students can refer to them as they complete the project. (An answer key is also included.)
