What educators are saying

This series is great for explaining the differences between all of the sentence types, including the most complex. Great conversations during the presentations!
My instructional and organizational staples (i.e. emergency sub plans, alternative assignments, mini lessons, bell ringers, individualized work packets, etc.) needed a major refresh. Thank you for putting this high-quality and engaging resource at such a budget-friendly price!

WHY DO I NEED THIS VIDEO?

Do you ever get stuck trying to explain grammar concepts in a kid-friendly way? Have you ever wished Jivey would just come teach grammar for you? ;-) If you said yes to either question, this interactive video series is just what you need! The videos in this series will help explain concepts to students, and help them understand how to carry the concept over into writing. The video is not meant to be used in isolation! The practice provided in the video and supplemental materials will not be all the students need... carry the skill over into writing time to help them understand it by using it!

*Be sure to look at the preview to see parts of the lesson. This will give you a feel for what the entire lesson will be like.*

All of the work has been done to review the three sentence types with your students in a kid-friendly way. By playing this video lesson, you will be able to devote all of your attention to your students! THE LESSON

This is a review lesson all about simple, compound, and complex sentences.

The video is 20 minutes but the entire lesson should take you about 30 minutes, as you will press pause a few times during the lesson when you see the icon appear on the screen. While paused, the students will interact with the lesson by discussing with you and their peers what they notice about the three sentence types. They will also be given time to take notes in their (included) interactive activity about the types of sentences.

Finally, they will show what they have learned from the lesson during an interactive portion at the end of the video. They will hold up (included) cards to identify sentences as simple, compound, or complex.

WHEN SHOULD I USE THIS LESSON?

This interactive lesson is perfect to use during your writing time. The lesson should take about 30 minutes. At the end of the lesson, I wrap up with a "Your Turn" challenge, which would be appropriate to lead into some independent writing time where they practice what they have learned.
