Description

Lead students on an exploration of the various elements that define a culture. This slide deck is designed for classroom use and includes a number of thought-provoking questions about culture such as: Is Tik Tok an art form? Who is the head of your household?

At the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Describe common traits that define cultures and cultural regions
  • Identify institutions basic to all societies
  • Understand the ways in which cultures change and maintain continuity

Students also preform a GEER (government, educational, economic, and religious) institutions exercise centered around the United States. This is primarily a practice opportunity for future use of the GEER graphic organizer. An exit ticket question is included.
