Description
Identify character traits using real world photographs! This engaging activity helps elementary students and ELL learners build vocabulary related to character traits. It can be used in a whole group or small group lesson, virtually or in-person. Simply post a slide, discuss the answer options, and have students discuss which vocabulary word they think best matches the photo. This is a great way for students to practice oral communication and justifying their answers.
This resource can be used in Powerpoint or Google Slides. (The Google Slides link can be found in the teacher notes PDF). The slides in both formats are non-editable to preserve the font style and formatting. In addition to a cover page, there are 15 slides with photos of people (mostly children) doing normal activities like playing, learning, etc, along with four answer choices of words that could describe the person in the photo.
A PDF included in the Zip file contains a note to the teacher, Google Slides link, ideas for how to use the resource, a student recording sheet, and an answer key.
Examples of vocabulary words used: hardworking, brave, responsible, proud, adventurous, creative, shy, easygoing, caring, cooperative, generous, helpful, competitive
