Description

Everyone loves finding the ice cream truck! This adapted book with sentence builders introduce vocabulary from places in the community the ice cream truck might visit in the summer. From the zoo and carnival to the car wash and gas station, finding the ice cream truck is fun for everyone young and old.

Adapted books are an engaging way to grab the attention of even your most reluctant readers. Interactive adapted books are perfect for emergent readers, English language learners, and students with autism and other special education needs.

Adapted books are a great addition to your literacy centers, and guided, shared, or independent reading activities. Sight word practice and generalization of sight words to the sentence level is a key component of my interactive adapted books.

Students enjoy looking at the colorful graphics throughout the book, Each page includes picture supported text with one interactive sentence frame. Students select the picture from the picture bank to complete sentence frame on each page of the book. Students will giggle at the unexpected places they find the ice cream truck.

Sentence Builders

The two sentence builder activities reinforce the vocabulary and sight words found within the adapted book.

Picture Supported Frames:

Students read each sentence frame and add a location picture to complete the sentence. "The ice cream truck is at the (location). This activity can be paired with each page of the book, or used as an errorless activity.

Sentence Scramble:

Students read the words/pictures on each card, assemble to form a sentence, and add a location picture to complete the sentence.
