    Description

INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOK LEVEL I FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAMS

    FOR IMMEDIATE USE:

PCs, Laptops & Chromebooks: Follow the link to the presentation and open it. Select File>Make a Copy>Rename.

iPads: Follow the link to the presentation and then GO BACK to the Google Slides home screen. Select the three dots next to the notebook file>make a copy>go back to the home screen> tap three dots AGAIN and rename the presentation.

Give the same directions to your students.

    FOR TEACHERS:

Please note that this notebook works best with iPads and/or Chromebooks. Printing out the slides to form a physical notebook is also an option but I would pick and choose each slide you would want to use (save paper).

    NOTEBOOK CONTENT:

Each chapter consists of a YouTube clip, a lesson and several worksheets/activities.

    MATERIALS:

    iPads/Chromebooks/Desktop for each student

    Student headphones

    TIPS & TRICKS:

There are several ways to incorporate this notebook into your everyday music class.

As a choir class teacher, I would rotate groups; some students would work on the notebook while I held sectionals with each voice part in the class. It also came in handy post-concert days and towards the end of the year.

In a general music setting, the notebook can be used as a “bellringer” or assignment at the beginning of class. You can assign so many slides a class or week.

    GRADING:

It’s important to establish a grading routine early on so expectations can be met by your students. If your district has Google Classroom or something similar then you can create an assignment for each chapter. In the directions, make sure to note each slide title and slide # that is due for that particular chapter. Students will screenshot each slide and upload it to the assignment post. The due date is up to you and what you think your students can handle. Everyone’s schedule is different.
