Description
These IB PYP provocation prompts are designed to guide and provoke curiosity and engagement in the children as you are building their questioning skills and developing inquirers. You want to help them to bring deep questions to the inquiry. Conceptual learning begins by understanding concept-based questions. These cards are ideal for developing understanding of the IB PYP Key Concepts as well as helping children to focus their thinking and develop higher level questioning skills.
They can be used by the teacher or the children - perfect for tuning into any inquiry and also guiding reflection activities too.
The cards are differentiated for Grades K-2 and Grades 3-6. Each card contains sentence stems for guiding the children’s thinking and structuring their questioning as they formulate their own questions with anything.
Included for each age level - K-2 & 3RD-6TH:
•A set of 7 full size key concept maps to place on tables or post on the wall to guide specific conceptual questions, with question stems to support formulating questions.
•A set of 7 handy task card sizes for the key concepts that can be kept in desks for individual reference tools or as a group reference tool.
•A set of general provocation prompts cards to use with ANY inquiry - 19 for the little kids and 27 for the bog kids.
Easy to print and keep in a box or a ring on table groups. I prefer to give each child their own set that they keep in their desks for easy access to use at ANY time and for ANY subject. I have seen children referring to the cards for formative assessments and reflections, for setting goals, for developing their own lines of inquiries as well as within literacy and maths. Perfect for collaborative thinking activities and encouraging accountable talk within discussions.
You can read more about the art of the provocation in my blog, with suggestions for sparking deep questions from the children.
