IB French B Survival Guide for Students and Teachers
- Word Document File
Description
I started teaching French B in an IB program over 4 years ago. When I started the program, I was lost and struggled with the new curriculum. Back then, I wish I had a guide, not only for my students but for myself as well that simplified the official IB French B guide and outlined the most foundational aspects of the course.
This document can be used for educators or printed, photocopied and passed out to students. I use it at the beginning of year 1 with students and refer to it throughout the course.
It can be edited and personalized, however it provides key information the course in general. It includes the following elements : A brief course overview, an explanation of the 5 themes, the difference between Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL), tips for success, an explanation of a variety of text formats, an overview of the Internal Assessment process (for SL and HL) and a list of useful expressions for the Internal Assessment.
The following text formats are covered in the document and include a small example for students to follow :
- Brochure
- E-mail / letter (formal and informal)
- Blog
- Article
- Postcard
- Review / Critique
- Speech
- Diary
- Interview
- Set of instructions / Guidelines
- Invitation
This document is meant to be a simple guide / overview for educators and students. It does not include all information regarding the course French B. Some elements are based off of the IB French B guide itself. I am open to feedback and commentary as to how I can improve it for educators and students new to the IB program.
