Supporting Indigenous Resources for Inclusive Learning for Elementary and Middle School Students

This no-prep learning resource / reconciliation novel study, includes NINE different activities to support this authentic resource using comprehension strategies: Summarizing, Connection, Visualization, Questioning, Critical Thinking and Transformation Plus... an activity identifying Child Rights violations described in the book.

This response unit supports in class learning as well as DISTANCE LEARNING with Google Classroom and Microsoft TEAMS. It works well with EPIC! as this amazing online book website carries this title, I AM NOT A NUMBER, as well as many other contemporary Indigenous titles.

Also included is additional information on intergenerational trauma to help support student understanding.

All BC Curriculum Big Ideas for grade 4-9 in Language Arts and Social Studies relevant to this unit are identified. Outside of BC, similar curricular comparisons can be made.

Lessons include student and teacher assessment rubrics as well as an answer key.

This novel study unit is also available in a bundle with the novel, As the Rivers Flow.
