Description

This is a printout use to make two shape houses (they are the same color) using different colored contact paper. This is used in the building study with the Creative Curriculum. I printed out on white paper and then stuck the colored contact paper wanted for each piece in copy machine one at a time to make sure each piece turned out the color I wanted. The picture you see for the thumbnail is when it is printed on different colored contact paper. In word it does not look like might much as it is just white shapes on white paper.

I use my shape houses when talking with students about the shapes and colors we can use to build a house. I made this so they could physically see the shapes as they go on the house. It will help them see how to draw a house. The different colors are to help them learn colors names. I put magnets on the back of each piece so that I could put it on the board easily, and used the house
with the book The Shape of Things even though my house looks different. We just talked about how all houses look different. The house is left out during center time/ choice time so the students can work with independently and I can ask questions one on one. This could also be use to test students on the very basic shapes.

Within a week several students went from whole page scribble houses to something that looked more like shapes for a house in their journal.
I do not own any part of the book The Shape of Things or the Creative Curriculum.
