Description

These slides introduce Latin students to inscriptions on Roman triumphal arches. In addition to the cultural use of the monuments, the slides detail how inscriptions preserve the development of the Latin language. The DATIVE case is featured in this slideshow, making it useful for Latin 1 as well as other levels. The social uses of triumphal arches as gifts from the grateful people of Rome are highlighted.
