Overview: This packet is an integrated approach in studying horror as a genre and a psychological state of mind. It includes a PowerPoint that discusses horror as a genre, the history of horror and its subgenres. The activity then includes a QR code where the students are required to watch video clips of horror trailers and place them into their categories. Then, Eli Roth’s History of Horror (trailers of sections) is viewed to examine the psychological concepts used in creating a horror movie. Finally, students are given the opportunity to watch several TedEd specials dealing with “Why Should We Read Edgar Allen Poe” to Lovecraft and similar topics.
