Description

Honors and Advanced Level Worksheets

Simplifying Rational Expressions

Two Multiplying and Dividing Worksheets with a Hidden Message

ALL ORIGINAL CREATED PROBLEMS

These simplifying rational expressions worksheets were designed for the honors and advanced student in mind. As a teacher, I always found it very tough to find practice problems difficult enough for my students. I want to challenge my students every day to help them think “outside of the box” and to become better problem solvers overall. I created these worksheets with that in mind.

There are two worksheets included in this product. There is an A and a B version which is marked on each worksheet on the upper right-hand corner. Both worksheets are challenging but the B version is slightly more difficult. You can use these to differentiate different versions to your students or as separate practice worksheets for all of your students.

As an added treat, there is a different hidden message on each version. I did not give any clues to the message so as to give students a chance to see if they can figure it out as a challenge to themselves. Here is how students will find the message: Take each variable from each problem, put them in order, and a message will appear.

All problems have step-by-step solutions as well as the answer to each hidden message. I hope your students enjoy these and find them rewarding. I know my students love a good challenge.

Interpret complicated expressions by viewing one or more of their parts as a single entity. For example, interpret 𝘗(1 + 𝘳)ⁿ as the product of 𝘗 and a factor not depending on 𝘗.
Understand that rational expressions form a system analogous to the rational numbers, closed under addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division by a nonzero rational expression; add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational expressions.
