In this highly-engaging lesson, students complete three hands-on activities to learn about the history and origins of President's Day, or otherwise known as Washington's Birthday.

Students complete a timeline reading assignment that breaks down the major milestones in the creation of the federal holiday known as Washington's Birthday. Once finished, students complete a close-reading crossword puzzle assignment that details the origins of President's Day, the history of George Washington's birthday, the role of President Abraham Lincoln, and the the role of Congress and the states. Once finished, students create a Twitter page for either President Washington or President Lincoln!
