Description

Students explore the history of voting in the United States. Using the timeline of voting rights (included), they will analyze, evaluate, and draw conclusions about how this responsibility of citizenship has evolved. Students complete a creative project to demonstrate and share their learning.

This challenging activity includes detailed, student-friendly Steps to Success that lead the learner through the process of creating a high-level, quality independent project. To add rigor and thoughtfulness, students reflect on their Exploration by answering stimulating “Important Questions.”

Supporting documents are part of this packet. These include General Student Directions, Expectations/Contract, Work Log, Research Log, Evaluation Rubric (Student and Teacher versions), and Introductory Information for teachers.

There are many more Explorations in Social Studies in our store on topics in civics, economics, geography, and history. Each Exploration is designed to be an independent project for students who would benefit from additional challenge and rigor in the topic being taught. They are planned to take about one week of a student's time.
