What educators are saying

This resource went along well with a novel study we were doing. My students were very interested in the idea of foot binding and wanted to learn more. Obviously they were quite engaged. This met all my teaching needs.

Description

High interest middle school level paired fiction/non-fiction passage with guided questions and graphic organizer included. Includes video links for hook and engage and exit slip ideas. My class LOVED this lesson!

The book excerpt is the property of the author, Lensey Namioka. The news article was pulled from the LATIMES online. I developed the guided questions/graphic organizer.

Guided Questions included questions for both passages, questions requiring synthesis of both passages, genre, tone, vocab in context, prefixes (BENE, ANTI, PRO), punctuation (comma in series), locating evidence in the text and summarizing.
