What educators are saying

My students loved this resource. It was an easy thing that I left for a sub to do with the class and it turned out great. I appreciated having an easy craft to go with the story.
Use this more with first but the book is perfect for both grades! My students love mini book. They are reading it with out being asked! It goes perfect with the activities!

Description

If you've read the book Henry's Freedom Box, you know that it's a must for Black History Month...It's a picture book that chronicles the life of Henry Box Brown. He was a runaway slave that mailed himself in a wooden box to Philadelphia, in the US Mail. His tactic worked and he was finally free!

Included in this craftivity is a stick puppet (Henry) that "pops" out of a wooden box, labeled to Philadelphia. It's a cute craftivity that students should be able to do themselves, with the picture directions that are included! There are also a variety of writing sheets that you can use to go along with the craft.

*November, 2015~ Please note that this is a totally redone craftivity and if you have the previous craft, please redownload the new edition. The previous edition is also included in this new download, so you can choose between the two!
