Helping Mister Potato Head - Animated Step-by-Step Story - PCS
Description
Animated Step-by-Steps® are animated PowerPoints designed to address literacy, language, AAC and a host of academic goals. Each page includes a series of animations. Read the text up to the star … click … and see an animation of what you just read. The symbols appear after the animation sequence to promote a literacy first agenda.
There are 4 versions of this resource (Regular, PCS, SymbolStix and VI).
This is the Picture Communication Symbol Version (Tobii Dynavox).
This Animated Step-by-Step story, Helping Mister Potato Head, invites students to assemble Mister Potato Head (“Yikes! I can’t hear. Help me find my _______”). In addition to working on body parts (eyes, nose, ears, mouth, hands, feet) it also addresses the five senses (look, hear, smell, taste, touch). On every page/slide students are asked to find a specific item from a field of three. Whenever they touch an incorrect item, a mildly negative comment, i.e., “uh ahhh” is heard. Whenever the student chooses the correct item, its label is heard, e.g., "ears” and the chosen item magically appears on Mister Potato Head.
This resource (appropriate for use with early childhood, both regular and special education) can be displayed on the 'big screen' (interactive whiteboard, large screen TV using Apple TV) or the 'small screen' (computer monitor, iPad/Android tablet or iPhone using the free Microsoft PowerPoint app specific to each). When using the computer, the spacebar can be used by students to trigger the animations more easily than a mouse click.
