This HEART WORD resource includes the 125 high-frequency words that are introduced in Benchmark Advance Florida Edition 2022 for FIRST GRADE. Learning sight words by rote memorization is not effective for all students. Using orthographic mapping strategies, students can read the parts of the high-frequency words that follow phonics rules. The rest of the word, which doesn't follow phonics rules, is the part that they need to know by heart.
Included in this resource:
- 125 heart words (large version) - perfect for introducing each word and displaying in the classroom. You will find that each card has a code (ex: U1W1) telling you which unit and week the word is introduced in. This allows for easy filing at the end of the year!
- 125 heart words (small version) - These work great to print and use in centers, for quiz quiz trade, or for individual students to keep on hand. They are also labeled with the unit number and week.
- 10 Unit pages - perfect to send home at the beginning of each unit or for data tracking!
- Cumulative lists - The last 9 slides are cumulative lists of the high-frequency words, combining each unit as you work through the year. These can be used to send home to parents. You can also use them for your own record keeping, tracking which words the students know and are still working on.
