Healthy Habits Unit Bundle for Autism and Special Education

This money-saving “healthy habits” unit Bundle includes 10 activities with topics such as: healthy foods, exercise, going to the doctor and dentist, bathing, brushing teeth, washing hands, and sleep. Students work on a variety of essential skills while learning curricular materials. Essential skills include: answering “wh” questions, expanding utterance length, identifying pronouns, answering yes/no questions, sorting pictures by action/ function, using sentence prompt strips, sequencing pictures, tracing core words, matching pictures to words, and more…

Materials are differentiated for a variety of learners including students whose primary modes of communication are verbalization, PECS, and communication devices.

Activities are motivating for students. The PowerPoint includes fun video links to songs, the craft incorporates a real toothbrush and paint to “clean teeth” and brown paint and a sponge to “wash hands.” The interactive “feed the lady” file folder consists of the student “feeding” healthy foods by inserting food into a cut-out mouth on a file folder.

Structured teaching approaches (left to right) and (top to bottom) are used in all activities, as well a color coding and picture visuals to aid in comprehension.
