This 11 week secondary unit is based on Jay McGraw's non-fiction text Life Strategies for Teens. Unit includes daily lesson plans aligned with ELA Common Core Standards grades 9-12.

Each daily lesson is designed for a 70-90 minute class period and can be altered as needed to align with your schedule. Depending on the length of your classes, this curriculum will serve you for an entire quarter or semester and can be used as ELA, Homeroom, Health, Life Skills, Career Education, Guidance, Advisory, or Character Education curriculum.

UNIT DESCRIPTION:

Life Strategies for Teens is more accessible for youth than other similar texts on the market, particularly at-risk youth. It uses teen-friendly language, and the author talks candidly and uses real life examples as he explores and explains the ten life strategies.

Most students are familiar with the famous talk show host Dr. Phil, and when I tell students the author of the text is Dr. Phil's college-age son, their interest is quickly sparked.
