Description
This workbook covers the Healthy Eating unit in the Grade 5 Ontario Health Curriculum (2019).
In this workbook, students will learn the basics of nutrition, including the importance of macronutrients like sugar and fibre, as well as micronutrients such as vitamins and minerals. They will explore how to read and understand nutrition labels and ingredient lists to make informed food choices.
The workbook also covers the influence of food advertising, product packaging, and celebrity endorsements on eating habits. Additionally, it addresses body image, the impact of unrealistic standards, and the dangers of fad diets.
There is a variety of readings, short answer questions, and creative thinking activities included to create a varied workbook suitable for many learning styles.
To support assessment practices, Ontario curriculum expectations are clearly identified on each page. A unit test is included at the end of the workbook.
