Description

Do your students recognize signs and symptoms of common health conditions and how to take care of themselves? This unit includes multiple activities to help teens understand what to do when sick and how to stay healthy. The activities are designed to provide interactive and meaningful instructional for ALL learners. The differentiated materials are perfect for secondary Life Skills, Special Education classes, or teens with autism.

The Health Adapted Unit Includes:

· Easy to Prep Directions

· Materials Overview with pictures and description

· Health Terms Visual (1 page) with definitions of prescription, prescription drug, over-the-counter medicine, and pharmacy

· Relief from Aches and Pains Activity- cut & paste activity using shopping ads (or sample pictures included) to find products helpful for relief of aches/pains

· 36 Health Vocabulary Cards with teen clipart/vocabulary related to unit activities

· Relief from Common Health Symptoms Informational Book (9 pages + cover) listing symptoms and care/relief for students to learn common health conditions and care

· When Feeling Sick and Staying Healthy Visual – informational text with suggestions on how to feel better and stay healthy. Pairs with writing activity

· Health Writing Assignments: What do you do when feeling sick? How do you stay healthy? Draw and Describe a Healthy You. Draw and Describe when I’m sick
