This Socratic seminar unit features iconic 80's hits, "What a Feeling," "Celebration," and "Dancing on the Ceiling." Multiple opportunities to build reading comprehension, fluency, writing skills, and vocabulary expansion are included. Activities offered support the ever-growing need to differentiate your instruction, giving your students the chance to play with these lyrics at their developmental level. Writing prompts, mental image depictions, vocabulary enrichment, word study, and small group instructional games offer your kids the chance to delve into these lyrics in many ways. The culminating activity is a Socratic seminar discussion, with directions, explanations, accountable talk stems and open-ended questions included to help coach your little ones through a rich conversation that encourages mindful participation and respectful, meaningful contributions.
