Description

Hatchet Activity Plane Crash Survival Assignment - This activity allows your students to put themselves in protagonist Brian's shoes in Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. After reading Chapter 5 and learning what items Brian has with him, students will use this resource to brainstorm different ways Brian can use these items for surviving in the wilderness. The Hatchet activity allows students not only to empathize with a character but also to use problem-solving strategies and out-of-the-box thinking.

Included In The Hatchet Activity:

➡️ Activity Teacher Instructions: Use these detailed teacher instructions to guide you through all elements of the lesson. You'll feel totally confident implementing the lesson and helping students empathize with Brian with step-by-step instructions on how to use the resource.

➡️ Hatchet Activity Classroom Poster: Welcome students with this eye-catching printable poster that reads "Welcome to the Canadian Wilderness." This will set the scene, build anticipation, and get students thinking before the activity even begins.

➡️ Plane Crash Survival Assignment: Now you can allow your students to put themselves in Brian's shoes with this fun 2-page brainstorming worksheet. Students will imagine that they are Brian and only have access to the items at his disposal: money, fingernail clippers, a hatchet, various clothes, and a broken digital watch!
