What educators are saying

This was so helpful for my students with struggling handwriting! This was an easy practice for homework where they could get additional practice and I saw improvement! Will use as morning work next year :)
My students really love this resource. I love it because it reinforces skills that we've been working on in the classroom.

Description

This Handwriting Practice Workbook for Print was created for kindergarten and first grade students in order to provide a fun and engaging way to practice and improve handwriting skills. I hope it proves to be both challenging and fun for your students as they practice reading, tracing, writing and drawing.

We live in a world where technology abounds and even the youngest of students is adept at using anything from a computer to a tablet. The art of handwriting has gradually become lost with the advancement of technology, causing a decline in the ability to write competently and legibly. While technology serves a vital purpose, it is important that children are taught early in life how to master handwriting skills for many reasons. You can read more on this topic here: 5 Reasons to Teach Handwriting.

Each handwriting practice activity includes two pages.

  • On the first page students practice letter formation. This page includes a word beginning with the focus letter, along with a small picture cue. Students should identify words beginning with the focus letter, draw and illustrate these

  • The second page allows students to read, trace and write a short sentence containing a word beginning with the focus letter. This page contains additional words for students to trace and illustrate

This handwriting pack can be used for morning work, independent work or may be used in a whole group setting. Also makes a wonderful center activity that students do in their center rotation.

The pages may be copied back to back and stapled as a workbook. A front cover can be added to complete it. For less advanced readers, you may wish to copy only the first page.

BONUS: I have added in extra review/practice with sight words: Pre-Primer; Primer; First; Second, plus some nouns for formatting purposes. (read, trace and write)
