Description

Knock, knock! Who's there? Handwriting practice that's actually FUN! Have you ever had a student who knows how to correctly form their letters, but doesn’t always take their time and write their neatest? What about the student who often forgets capitals, punctuation, and misspells words that are right in the text?

What would make my students take their time and be more careful?

Then, it hit me: JOKES! Kids love jokes! And Happy Handwriting was born.

This pack is NO PREP meaning you can just print, copy, and go. I’d recommend copying back-to-back to save paper.

This pack includes:

Alphabet Letter Formation Pages:

One page for each letter of the alphabet and a page for ! and ? as well.

50 Joke Handwriting Pages:

Have the students carefully copy the jokes, making sure to include all punctuation, correct spelling, and neat handwriting. Remind students to double check their work. In the corner of each page is a smiley face. Once students hand in their page, you can check their spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and handwriting. If they got everything correct, you can color the smiley face green, if they made a few errors, circle the errors and color the smiley face yellow, and if they made a lot of errors, circle the errors and color the smiley face in red. Allow students to go back and correct any errors. Once all errors are fixed, they can take their page home and practice their joke telling skills! I always told my students they couldn’t take their jokes home until they were perfect, so they always tried their best!

Roll a Joke Pages:

Students roll a die to create their joke. Each time they roll, they can color in the box number they land on. When they’re done, they can neatly write their silly joke question, and then they are challenged to come up with a funny punchline. These are a great early finisher activity and work well placed in a plastic sleeve to use over and over.

As always, my goal is to make teaching a breeze!
