This cultural handout explains the ancient Roman holiday of Matronalia, a celebration of women. It's perfect to use with Women's History Month (March) and International Women's Day (March 8th).
The front of the handout goes over the origin and importance of the holiday and exactly how it was celebrated in Rome. The bottom section introduces a few notable Roman women: Hortensia, Livia, Agrippina the Younger, and Julia Domna. The back of the handout gives "did you know" facts and derivatives. I've also included a thematic Latin vocabulary section: mother, sister, daughter, flower, gift, etc.
There are two verb charts on the back of the handout (present tense, first and second conjugation, active only): one is completely filled out as a paradigm, the other is a fill-in-the-blank activity for students to preview or practice endings.
I've included a black-and-white version for you to use as well as the color version.
