    Use these resources to engage your learners the week of Halloween (or before and after, too! Decide what works best for you and your students).

    Why fight their restless energy as they dream of candy and wonder why we have school when such a day clearly exists for children to have fun?

    1. Analyze the structure of suspense stories. Five stories with analysis questions. (over 70 questions; includes linked audio and links to text).
    2. Analyze poems: "Theme in Yellow" Carl Sandburg; "This living hand, now warm and capable" John Keats; writing activities and graphic organizers included
    3. Analyze how an original work is the adapted into a modern work (writing activity after reading "The Most Dangerous Game")
    4. Mini-lesson on dramatic irony.
