What educators are saying

Great activity! My students enjoyed working on this and learned a lot about biodiversity through engaging practice.
This game was a lot of fun for my students. I ended up making a few more monster cards of different types for the second round, but it was good at illustrating the point and the students loved it.

Description

The perfect game for Halloween (or any time of year)!

In my classroom, this game not only produced lots of laughs, but provided an excellent illustration of biodiversity within an ecosystem that I referred back to often as an example in later class periods.

This game consists of two simulations. Each student during each simulation will have a card with a monster. The teacher lurks about the room as a disease. Some monsters are immune to the disease, and some are not. If implemented well (that means dramatically by the teacher),this game can have an element of suspense that will keep your students watching and listening.

For this lesson/game to be successful, you as the teacher must embrace the silliness and craziness of this game. If you are having fun, the students will have fun too. The more ridiculous you are, the easier it will be to break down that “cool barrier” and get your students laughing. Be dramatic. Be fun. And your students will never forget this game!

With this product, you also receive a Student Workbook where students will record all of their observations and conclusions of the simulations they experience. Includes an answer key.

If you're looking for a fun way to spend Halloween, this game is the one! Your middle school Science students will love to celebrate Halloween this way...they will also never forget this lesson in biodiversity.
